Classification:  Full Time 
Description:  To efficiently operate computerized feed manufacturing equipment and to mix and process ingredients to company specified formulations and quality guidelines.  Delivery of manufactured feed products to customers and provide related customer service in a safe and effective manner. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To provide the following:
  • Maintain a safe working environment as outlined by Northern Country Cooperative’s Personnel Management Policies Handbook.
  • Operate computerized batch mixing equipment, receiving and load out equipment, micro ingredient addition and grinding equipment.
  • Maintain inventory at desired levels.
  • Fulfills all reporting and recordkeeping requirements as required.
  • Follows standards of quality as outlined by the HACCP Program, cGMP’s and other manufacturing and regulatory controls.
  • Learns and understands the customer’s livestock operation well enough to avoid errors when making deliveries.
  • Follows established flushing and sequencing procedures to avoid cross-contamination of products.
  • Routinely checks truck compartments for feed hang ups between loads.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintains a clean working environment.
  • Assists in maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensures no spread of livestock disease.
  • Delivers bulk feed to customers specifications.
  • Always ensures a quality product before unloading.
  • Follows established flushing and sequencing procedures to avoid cross-contamination of products.
  • Performs maintenance of truck & equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
  • Must have an acceptable driving record
  • Class A CDL
  • Must pass drug test(s)
Northern Country Coop IS CURRENTLY hiring a Custom Applicator at Rose Creek, MN and Toeterville, IA locations.
Position Summary: The custom applicator is responsible for properly applying agronomy products, driving truck and/or semi and helping in the grain and/or agronomy areas at each location as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Report for work as scheduled.  Currently winter hours (7:30 am-4:30 pm) start after harvest and run to just before planting (~December thru March), summer hours (7:00 am-5:00 pm) start just before planting and run thru harvest (~March thru November), in season hours can be variable requiring much over-time.
  • Know and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform work in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrate work habits that develop, build and suport the team concept within Northern Country Coop
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on all running equipment and trucks.
  • Make minor improvements on equipment and facilities, as needed.
  • Maintains equipment to insure safe and accurate application. Performs or ensures routine maintenance is performed on equipment, facilities and grounds.
  • Reads and understands label information from manufacturers and distributors of pesticides, fertilizers, and other products containing hazardous chemicals.
  • Applies products in a timely, effective and accurate manner.
  • Follows guidelines for recording information on weather conditions, product used, field conditions and rates.
  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains records to document activities.
  • Commercial Chemical Applicators License (1A,1B,1C) is required.
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with proper endorsements and commercial insurability at all times. To include a valid DOT physical.
  • Drive application equipment such as floaters, row machines, tenders, etc. As well as grain, fertilizer, chemical and supply trucks as needed.
  • PC, I-Pad and related computers and their associated software
  • Courteously and efficiently receive and disburse grain.
  • Operate scale, receiving control room and dryers.
  • Ensure grain & all other NCC inventories stay in condition.
  • Prepare rail cars and load cars according to specifications.
  • Perform general housekeeping (ie. Sweep and clean grain and fertilizer plants, shop, warehouse, etc.) to maintain dust levels as well as Northern Country Coop’s image.
  • Assist with other locations, as needed.
  • Must be a team player, who is self-motivated, detail oriented and dependable
  • Receives all ingredients and/or commodities and transfers to appropriate bins.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment
  • Comply with current Northern Country Coop’s credit policies.

  • Represent yourself and NCC professionally at all times in action and appearance – positively enriching the culture of NCC.
  • Work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Follow up to ensure that work has been completed as assigned.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 – 100 pounds.
  • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Ability to climb high heights and perform routine maintenance on equipment. 
  • Vision, hearing and speech essential.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Hand coordination to use computer.
  • May require a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred). While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear and use hands.
